Film Unit Sponsorship and Advertising Packages.  
Film Unit is the student cinema showing four films a week in the auditorium of Sheffield University’s Student Union. We show a huge range of films from foreign and art-house films to international blockbusters. We attract a wide ranging audience from first years to postgraduates and members of staff.  We have an auditorium with 400 seats. We regularly reach this capacity with films like ‘The Dark Knight’. Even with our more niche screenings of foreign and independent films we get an average audience of over 100.  

There are twenty thousand students at Sheffield University alone- advertising through Film Unit will help you reach them.

We can offer a number of packages to suit your needs and advertising budget:

  • Premium sponsorship. 

With this package your advertising would be on every piece of our publicity.

-We have up to 5000 glossy A5 programmes printed every term. They are distributed widely around the university and Sheffield in general, including Sheffield Hallam University. You would have a colour advert inside the front cover of this programme and have your name on every single page.

-We have three A0 poster boards in the union. These are used to advertise the films showing in a particular week and Film Unit in general. You would have advertising material in all of these boards. We also have general Film Unit posters which we put up around the Union and in bars and café’s around Sheffield. Your logo would be placed on all of these posters.

-We have a website (www.filmunit.org.uk) which has over 200 hits a day. A link to your website would be placed on the front page of the website.

-We have a slideshow before all of our films. You would have a general slide before every film and if you wanted to advertise a specific event then you could add slides whenever they are needed.

-We have a Facebook page, ‘Film Unit’ and a group, ‘Rediscover Cinema: Film Unit’ with nearly 700 members. A link to your website would be added to our page and we could send messages to our members if you have specific events you would like to advertise.

-We also hand out small flyers every week in the union with a list of our films for that week. Your logo would be on all of these flyers.  

-This package would be £2500. Poster and online publicity would begin straight away, our next programmes will be published in April and run until June.
-We are willing to negotiate on-campus advertising for your organisation. You would be able to set up a stall and speak to students about any graduate opportunities you may want to publicise. You could also sponsor a showing and have the opportunity to speak to the audience before the film started.

  • Programme advertising.

 

We have a range of advertising options for our programme. Between 4000 and 5000 programmes will be printed in April to last until the summer. They are distributed around the union and in bars and café’s around Sheffield.

-Full-page colour: £250
-Half-page colour: £100

-Full-page black & white: £150
-Half page black & white: £75

-Logo and website: £50

-Sponsor the whole programme: have a full page colour advert as well as a logo and website on every page. We would also hand out promotional material with our programmes. For example we could place postcard inserts into every programme. This would be £1500.

  • Poster and Slide advertising.

 

We have three A0 poster boards and an A3 board in the union. We also have A3 posters which we place in departments and various locations around the university and Sheffield in general, including Sheffield Hallam University.  Our slide show runs for up to 20 minutes before the film starts, they can be placed on weekly rotation or placed on particular showings if you would like to target a particular audience.
