Ushering - what you do
Tearing tickets at the beginning and holding open doors at the end. Succinctly. That's not quite all it involves, of course - you'll be told the basics of the Film Unit ticket policy and what to do in emergencies, but the ticket thing is the bulk of it. There is absolutely no responsibility - you usher whichever films you want to.

What you get
You get to see whichever films you work for free. If you're intending on seeing a lot of films, this mightn't be the job for you (especially if you like watching the credits). However, it will always be the best way of poking your head in through the door and checking Film Unit is a place you'd like to spend your time.

How to sign up
Every Monday, log sheets for all our films go up in the posterboard outside our office. Write your name in one of the six usher slots, then come to the auditorium 30 mins before the films starts (normally you should be there by 7pm). All training is given on the night, so don't worry that this page only gives you the vaguest of outlines.
